These are my updated slides about Common Data Model and Service.

Just as a quick introduction… Why are we trying to centralize or standardize the way we are storing data? Because this is the only way to build an efficient Collective Memory and collective memory is the requirement if you want to take advantage of intelligence…. Human AND Artificial.

We are in a era of « Intelligence ». Everyone is talking about it and using it in there communication. But how is build intelligence? And I’m not just talking about Logical-Mathematical intelligence but also all other 8 types of intelligence following the model proposed by Howard Gardner in 1983 in his book Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences.

          CF: https://blog.adioma.com/9-types-of-intelligence-infographic/

When it comes to simplify the way individual intelligence works, Intelligence is build on top of experience, trained from your memory.

Now, when we talk about Collaboration, it’s mostly multiple people, working altogether to achieve a shared objective. But all these people are just doing their own part without sharing their intelligence. Of course, some of them will learn but for most of them they will just build their own experience and intelligence.

And what about Collective Intelligence?! It’s a mix between this addition of individual intelligence and a collective intelligence they built altogether. What is interesting here is the fact that it will work with humans… but also if one of these collaborators should be an artificial intelligence. An automation system that will do things for what it is built but also able to built his own experience based on memory. Let take 2 examples:

          1. Language: Language is typically a collective intelligence thing. Anyone using it can create new word or expression to describe something, share it with others and finally use it altogether if everyone think it is relevant. by now, only humans created new words but why not thinking about some new ones created by a machine in the future? That is already a Human Collective Intelligence.
          2. Language translation: Let’s talk about Google and Microsoft translation services that was using English as the path to translate from a language to another one 10 years ago. The translation was pretty bad cause the fact to translate, let take, French to English before translating from English to Chinese create a kind of distortion in the translation itself. Now, these company just worked differently with neural networks to translate directly from French to Chinese, without any distortion but… the machine just created a new language in between. Why not thinking that new language could become or be used in the future? And that could become a real Human + Artificial Collective Intelligence?

Here is the complete slidedeck available on my SlideShare. Feel free to download it, use it, share it, … Spread the words about Common Data Services!!

A friend asked me today: « You are not selling your services here in Vancouver… So why are you there? ». This event means a lot to me… Last year, in april 2017, I was already supposed to speak here but I had to cancel the week before cause I just received confirmation of my cancer diagnose… So being here, a year after, after all that chemo and surgery things is a victory for me. And speaking about technology is my job and also my pleasure 😉
